Ben Stein is Bad, Expelled is also Bad

So the formerly reputable Ben Stein is the star of the new pro-intelligent design/pro-creationism movie Expelled.  Do not go see this movie, which makes the ridiculous allegation that at the heart of Science is a conspiracy to keep intelligent design/creation proponents out of schools.  It is of course true that scientists would like to keep these people out of schools, but not because of their religion or their dissenting views, but rather because of their refusal to actually do science.

Anyway, Eugenie Scott and the National Center for Science Education have set up a website, Expelled Exposed, which they hope will become the place to go for all the debunkings and exposures of inaccuracy related to the movie.  I encourage you to click the link even if you don’t want to read it, so that it will rise in Google’s rankings and hopefully come up any time any body googles Ben Stein or the Expelled movie.

  1. I’ve heard so many people on both sides telling me to see/not see this movie. I don’t really understand the point of the documentary but I’m curious as to what the debate is all about. Regardless, when did we start calling creationism “intelligent design”? Was I in Korea when this happened? I vaguely remember a word swap…

  2. I think an analogous documentary film should also be made out of the DINOGLYFS or dinolits:

It seems that the ancient man not only saw but also documented the last megafauna (gigafauna, I should say, really!)

  3. I do not know anyone who seats on ‘the other side’. My wife does know, one friend of her is christian who does not believe in evolution. Besides this she is normal person (I have been told) – is that even possible?
